Sample SOG Career Profile

robin-lackeyRobin Lackey

“Strategic Offsites enabled me to take on leadership roles far beyond the opportunities typically offered to employees coming directly from undergrad.”

Engagement Example

A major luxury goods company engaged us to help develop its global digital strategy. Working with a third-party research firm, I managed the development of the customized Best Practice and Trends reports that grounded our strategy development. I co-facilitated several brand workshops to help our cross-functional client teams better understand their organization’s varied customer segments. Our team then led the client through a process to develop a strategy based on targeted online experiences for specific customer segments.

BACKGROUND

During her 3 years at SOG, Robin developed expertise in strategy development, execution, and measurement by working with public and private clients in the healthcare non-profit, consumer electronics, document management, and other industries. Her projects included organizational and industry-wide transformation, alliance building and management, performance measurement and reporting, and strategic communications to multiple stakeholders.

Robin received a BS in Management with a concentration in Information Systems from the Boston College Carroll School of Management, where she graduated first in her class. She is currently pursuing an MBA at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern.

Why Strategic Offsites?

“I joined Strategic Offsites because I wanted to be in a client-facing role and gain exposure to different industries and strategic issues. Within one week, I was actively contributing on a client project. Our partners personally coached me and created opportunities to take on leadership roles both within the firm and on client projects. We worked as a team to tackle client issues, and had fun in the process.”

Jon-HammerJon Hammer

“Very few of my peers know what it’s like to sit down with CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and talk strategy. This executive-level perspective was critical in preparing me for business school and beyond.”

ENGAGEMENT EXAMPLE

Our client was the new president of a large business unit in a Fortune 100 financial services company. We helped her engage the leadership team to align around five pillars of growth. After this offsite, I helped structure a process to empower more than 60 executives from across the organization in developing a new strategy around these pillars, and co-facilitated a series of workshops to pursue each opportunity. This process tapped into great ideas and deep subject matter expertise from across the organization, and generated incredible awareness and buy-in for the strategy.

BACKGROUND

Jon joined Strategic Offsites in January 2008. Over 3 ½ years he worked with more than 15 clients across industries and issue areas. His projects ranged from long term strategy development, to process redesign, to working with the Board of a public company to provide direction to management on growth opportunities.

Jon graduated summa cum laude from Boston University. He left SOG to pursue an MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. After graduation, Jon joined Bain & Company as a consultant.

WHY STRATEGIC OFFSITES?

“SOG gave me the chance to tackle big strategic issues and gain exposure to senior-level clients at some of the world’s most respected companies. I got to work with a great group of people who challenged me and made the job more fun and interesting. I can’t think of a better place to start my career.”
